Pennsylvania 18th Congressional District and the Active Campaigning of End Citizens United

The 18th Congressional District of Pennsylvania is heading to the election, and the traditional GOP seat is making the Republican camp panic. The special election which is scheduled on March 13 is longer an easy walkover for the conservatives. The Democratic candidate, Conor Lamb, is reportedly growing as a hope for the middle-class families of the district. Though Republicans have the edge over Democrats, things are quite difficult for the GOP candidate though President Donald Trump dominated the district in 2016 election by an amazing 20 percentage points. Interestingly, Democrats got a series of victories after Trump took the administration.

The Republican candidate in the district, Rick Saccone, has got the excellent support of the outside spending groups and showed a clear dominance in the airwaves with the help of ads by those spending groups. Considering the support of money groups to Saccone, End Citizens United, a grassroots level PAC that works against big money in politics, decided to support Lamb. End Citizens United is a well-known PAC across the United States considering its campaigns and strong opposition to corporate funding groups. It is analyzed that the millions of grassroots campaigners and small-dollar donations of ECU can significantly improve the prospects of Lamb.

Tiffany Muller, the renowned President of ECU, stated that Lamb is campaigning for Congress to represent the Pennsylvania families who are pulled down by the rigged and money-controlled system of Washington. She also added that the grassroots members of the PAC are eagerly waiting to fight back against the filthy and shady money groups who have special interests. She also said that such groups are trying to steal the electorate of the district using their money power. The PAC, which is named after the infamous Supreme Court verdict in 2010 that gave the access of corporates to elections, is the first major group stood behind Conor Lamb.

While accepting the support of End Citizens United, Lamb said that he would not accept any funds from PACs that are created and funded by corporate bigwigs. Interestingly, he would accept union contributions as that are supported by rank-and-file workers. Lamb also opined that the system is not working, and the flawed campaign finance system is one of the major reasons for that. Compared to him, Saccone is benefited by the Conservative bigwigs, and 45Committee, a PAC supporting the policies of Donald Trump, alone made an ad campaign by spending $500,000 for him.

End Citizens United has not revealed how much it wants to spend for Lamb in the upcoming election. The PAC has spoken its mind of electing maximum campaign finance reformists to both the Houses to pass the legislature restricting big money in campaigns and politics. The PAC is getting massive support in the recent years.
